Fequently Asked Questions.

Is your home sleep test covered by insurance?

Insurance covered clinical services are provided through Home Sleep Health Services, PLLC in the state of Connecticut.

What is the benefit of using Home Sleep Health instead of doing an in-lab sleep test?

Home Sleep Health provides our patients the opportunity to take an accurate FDA-cleared multi-night sleep test in the comfort of their own bed versus spending the night in an uncomfortable sleep lab with a stranger watching you on a camera.  In addition, if you are positive in an in-lab test they will often make you come back a second time to do a titration test for your CPAP.  If you are positive with our test, you can then be prescribed an Auto-Titrating CPAP and not have to spend any additional nights at the sleep lab.

Why is multi-night testing important while doing a sleep test?

There is substantial data proving that multi-night testing improves accuracy versus single night testing. Your sleep can vary from one night to the next, so it makes perfect sense that two nights of testing is better than one.

How does the cost of a Home Sleep Health test compare to an in-lab sleep test?

On average,in-lab testing has a cash price of around $3,000. A home sleep test is often just a few hundred dollars in comparison.

Why does Home Sleep Health use the NightOwl home sleep test?

The NightOwl homesleep test provides the latest advancements in sleep testing technology along with the most convenient delivery system. It's small, easy to use and offers the ability to do multi-night testing (we allow two nights) so that we receive more data for our sleep physician to review.

How do I get a CPAP machine if I’m positive for sleep apnea with your test?

If you have a positive home sleep test with Home Sleep Health, we will help your ordering physician set you up with the durable medical equipment company of your choice.

How long does your home sleep test take?

After receiving a referrral for a test, we immediately call your insurance company to get authorization to do the test. Once we make contact with you we will ship you the home sleep test within the next two days.  Once your two nights of testing are complete, we will send your sleep test results and report to your ordering physician within the next five business days. You can have a diagnosis in about one to two weeks and be on therapy within a month.

How do I know if I need to test for sleep apnea?

A good way to know is by conducting a sleep screening appointment provided by your doctor. If you snore and your partner tells you that you gasp for air while sleeping those are very strong indicators. Common co-existing conditions include hypertension, atrial fibrillation, diabetes and obesity.
